Kirsten Summers is "our" tree surgeon, and I am totally in awe of her skills...She reduced the height of, and thinned out, two silver birches in the courtyard, and cut down a Silver Birch in the lawn group that looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, took out a large Scots Pine which was blocking sunlight from my Metasequoia Glyptostroboides, and removed a Plane Tree, which had been blocking sunlight from a group of Brodie oaks, by the pond. Six hours hard labour with the temperature hovering just below 30°C, when you are wearing thick Kevlar chainsaw-proof trousers is no fun...
