"Ich freue mich, dass der Libeskind-Bau nun fertig und so sehr gelungen ist", sagte Lüneburgs Oberbürgermeister Ulrich Mädge (SPD) zu dem Bau auf dem früheren Kasernengelände am Stadtrand. "Inmitten der alten Scharnhorst-Kaserne versinnbildlicht er für alle sichtbar den Wandel, den Lüneburg in den letzten 30 Jahren vollzogen hat, nämlich weg von der Garnisonsstadt hin zur Kultur- und Bildungsmetropole."
