The castle of Sainte-Suzanne (11th century) was the scene of numerous conflicts, particularly during the Hundred Years' War, and entered history when William the Conqueror tried in vain to conquer it from 1083 to 1086.

LE BANC DEVANT LES VIEUX REMPARTS. Le château de Sainte-Suzanne (XIe siècle) fut le théâtre de nombreux affrontements, notamment durant la Guerre de Cent Ans. Il est entré dans l’histoire à l’occasion de la vaine tentative de Guillaume le Conquérant pour s’en emparer, de 1083 à 1086.
