THE BRIDGE OF THE HERO. It's Mac-Racken bridge built in 1824 (originally Pont d'Orléans). The current name is a tribute to Sergeant James Mac-Racken who, on the night of August 5, 1944, defused the 15 cases of dynamite that the Germans had placed on the bridge. Of the three bridges that existed at that time in the city, this is the only one that remain after the war.
