I like this time of year when blooming flowers are a clear sign that winter is ending and spring arrives. Let's hope that the bandstand gets a makeover soon.

A wonderfully colourful scene Carol, very nicely composed. I know money is tight, but it does seem a shame that such a focal point in the park may deteriorate so much that it has be be removed (Health & Safety), at great expense no doubt.

In the old days the park was much bigger but a dual carriageway was built and ran through part of it. They did put an underpass in to the remainder of the park and there was a small paddling pool there (probably another health and safety nightmare nowadays!), but that is gone now. In the main gardens there used to be a floral sundial and fountain from memory, and on the other side there were steps and a lovely archway leading to a rose garden. Memories!

Thank you very much Pam. Yes they do. I can remember in the old days there was a floral sundial in the gardens which was lovely and I believe there was a fountain. Years ago they took part of gardens when they put a dual carriageway through, which was really needed, but the gardens are still lovely As the town gets bigger it is a nice green space for people to enjoy.

Two gorgeous shots Carole. Sadly bandstands are very underused these days. Two that do hold events with local bands are in Sherborne, not far from me, and Christchurch, Dorset. I do love a bandstand :-))

I really like bandstands, for their architecture (there are rarely two alike), and for what they remind of past societies when there was not so much technology. In Portugal they are still widely used, although not as much as in the past.

Thank you very much Paulo. I love to see bandstands and hope that this will be properly renocated and used again. When I was a child it was a big event to come to the gardens to listen to the band playing. The gardens were even prettier then, with a rose garden and fountain and lovely floral sundial. It is nice to know that they are still quite well used in Portugal. I guess times move on, but the memories don't!
