Der Görli - Naherholungsgebiet und Drogenhochburg - Local hangout and epicenter for drug use - PiP
After German reunification in the 1990s, the 14-hectare former railway area of Görlitz station was transformed into Görlitzer Park ("Görli"), a recreational area with an ecological focus that stretches from the Landwehr Canal in a north-westerly direction to the Emmaus Church (see PiP). Crime and drug dealing escalated there over time to such an extent that this fascinating park remains a recurring political topic to this day.
The image depicts an unidentified stone figure in the park, expressing the gloominess of this Berlin recreation area.
