Der größte europäische Fink - Kernbeißer - Hawfinch - The largest European finch

The Hawfinch (Coccothraustes coccothraustes) lives up to its name: this finch can even crack open cherry stones with its very large, powerful beak to get at the coveted seeds. It is easy to spot close up, but it is almost invisible at a greater distance because it usually stays almost stealthy in the treetops, and its inconspicuous colour makes it almost invisible. I myself have only been able to spot hawfinches twice in the forest. In harsh winters they also come to the feeders, where they energetically make room for themselves to feed.
I observed the hawfinch in the picture in a mixed oak forest and photographed it with my 350 telephoto. The whole time I was eyed suspiciously.
