Hochsommer - High summer
Immer zur Hochsommerzeit fliegt einer der größten mitteleuropäischen Tagfalter, der Kaisermantel oder Silberstrich (Argynnis paphia). Im Bild ein Weibchen, das gerade an einer Distelblüte Nektar saugt.
Die Fortpflanzung dieses Falters ist außerordentlich interessant und komplex. Soviel sei verraten, dass die Eier vom begatteten Weibchen an Baumstämmen abgelegt werden, an deren Fuß Veilchen wachsen. Weitergehende Information findet man hier:

Always at the height of summer, one of the largest Central European butterflies, the silver-washed fritillary (Argynnis paphia), flies. The picture shows a female sucking nectar on a thistle flower.
The reproduction of this butterfly is extremely interesting and complex. The eggs are laid by the mated female on tree trunks with violets growing at their base. Further information can be found here:
