Eine kleine Kostbarkeit - Ophrys sphegodes subsp. litigiosa - A small gem

I found this small native orchid species, the small spider orchid (Ophrys sphegodes subsp. litigiosa), today in a Franconian nature reserve. The flower hardly measures the size of a fingernail. Amazingly early in the year the first orchids are already blooming, another indication of climate change.
The small spider orchidis a flower that imitates insect females by its scent, appearance, size and lip texture and induces the formerly hatching male insects to make copulation attempts on the flower lips. In this process the orchid flowers are pollinated. For more details see the Internet address.
