it's autumn and they waited for the sun to caress
the leaves mostly fallen and now a carpet of gold
walking quietly, no wind but feeling damp and cold
a rustle and movement ahead maybe . . .
walking slowly onward what did we see
a deer stood so still . . . waiting patiently
the sound of crow and a warning maybe
a sound of caution heard quite clearly . . .
and then she was gone or hiding safely
