Stables and coach houses for Eden hall, now 7 dwellings and partly stables. Dated 1841 on rainwater heads, for the Musgrave family by Sir Robert Smirke, who rebuilt Edenhall in 1821. Hammer-dressed red sandstone and ashlar walls with string courses and pilasters. Graduated greenslate roofs, with banded ashlar chimney stacks. Large 2-storey many-bay ranges on 3 sides of courtyard, the 4th side lower. Viewed from the courtyard the entrance range has central segmental through archway under octagonal domed cupola, with clock faces on 4 sides. Left 3 bays are domestic, with C20 panelled door and C20 sash and casement windows some in partly-blocked loft doorways. right stables have plank doors and casement windows. The right range has been stables or coach house with a series of segmental-arched doorways under casement windows with glazing bars in stone surrounds. The rear range is now almost entirely domestic. C20 panelled doors and casement windows in original surrounds, some of the windows in partly-blocked loft doorways. Left range is also domestic with panelled door in stone surround in otherwise blank wall. This was close to the mansion house of Edenhall demolished in the mid 1930s.
