koala infestation
Seriously, you CAN have too many koalas. The koala over-population at Cape Otway has resulted in them killing off their own food source by eating so much the trees die. Large areas of eucalypts are dead, and other trees are in trauma mode, sprouting leaves along the main trunks, trying to get some energy; until now I've only seen that after bushfires.
