There would have been interesting perspectives from inside. As you can imagine, I would have entered, but there were some workers up in the sceleton, cutting the steel beams to scrap, and this was too scary.

Danke Lothar, ....ich geh ja sonst überall rein, aber hier aus 2 Gründen nicht. Erstens sind da Teile runter gekommen und zweitens hatte ich Angst, die Arbeiter telefonieren nach der Polizei und das hätte ziemlich sicher eine längere Reiseunterbrechung bedeutet ;-))

Warum wird dort nicht mehr produziert?
Nickel wird doch mehr verbraucht als je zuvor.

Es gibt dort immer noch 2 riesige Nickelfabriken in Betrieb, 1 kubanische und 1 Joint-Venture mit Kanada. 1992 schloss diese dritte Fabrik hier nach dem Zusammenbruch der Sowjetunion, vor allem weil plötzlich Öl sehr teuer wurde, und davon wurden Unmengen gebraucht.
