the horseshoe block
This strange huge building, the so called Horseshoe Block, is situated near the lake Storvatnet, a km from Hammerfest. It was constructed for the workers of the frozen food company Findus, in the first half of the 1960s, designed by the architectural firm Astrup and Hellern. Altogether the building complex houses 124 flats of varying sizes.

Ganz schön gnadenlose Baumasse in der Natur. Immerhin im Verhältnis zu den Wohnungen wenig Flächenverbrauch. Jedenfalls ist das Motiv ein Foto wert.
