Passeggiata all'antico Ghetto Ebraico di Roma

Dat is al een tijdje terug 1555
lijkt me er wel gezellig

Certainly , when on Juy 12 1555 Pope Paolo IV decided to establish a'ghetto' in this ancient part of Rome near teatro Marcello , absolutely was not in his intentions to preserve its 'phisiognomy' and atmosphere during the centuries. But it has happened luckily for us.

Ci sono perfino iscrizioni in latino, in alto, a testimoniare l'antichità del luogo, poi in basso le botteghe dai colori vivaci e dalle scritte per turisti che fanno da contrasto con la vetustà delle pareti. Qui è passata una storia fatta di segregazione e di persecuzione, la certezza che tutto questo è definitivamente alle spalle non ci deve impedire di ricordare e di tramandare il ricordo ai più giovani ….
Tornando alla foto, mi piace come hai scelto lo scorcio e come hai composto la foto, che si ammira piacevolmente da sn. verso dx. come una serie di fotogrammi di una vecchia pellicola.
La presenza umana alquanto ridotta ci fa pensare ad un momento di relativa calma, le aree più scure dei fondi si alternano piacevolmente a quell'ocra che a Te piace tanto, anche se molto scolorito.
Anche qui si evidenzia piacevolmente la Tua capacità di sintesi e di racconto.

E' un luogo a cui ritorno sempre più volentieri, per la sua inalterata 'fisionomia' architettonica, e l'atmosfera da 'vecchia Roma' che le persone lì vivono quotidianamente tanto da respirarla
ad ogni passo, accanto al meraviglioso Portico d'Ottavia; ed anche per gli ottimi ristorantini con cibo tipico della tradizione ebraico -romana !:-) Sì questo volevo raccontare , appunto, come hai così sensibilmente notato, come una serie di fotogrammi...
Sì ci sono turisti, ma non orde frenetiche. Soprattutto, ho notato, stranieri e non in gruppo; anche una educatissima classe di Scuola Superiore romana, il che mi è parsa ottima cosa.

I love the colours and textures on the facade of the building and pattern formed by the stones of the road surface. An interesting part of Rome to visit I am sure.

I love this street Bea. 1555....that is a long time ago, but there must be even older parts of this great city. A superb picture.

Yes Rosa !There are so many parts even much older than the Antico Ghetto.
But , most of them, by now, are so crowded with tourists that I prefer not to take photos :-)
Indeed! I try to keep away from them , looking for more 'secret' and quieter parts of the 'Vecchia Roma':-)

Oh, I wish I had seen that when I was in Rome! Well, there is SO much I did not have time to see and I will never see... Wonderful, yet worn out. Super shot, Bea.

Some of these ancient houses have been elegantly restored by the owners..BUt, as usual !:-), i'am far more interested in and charmed by some kind of decadence which goes on telling me about the past.
I know I must be crazy..:-)
