Disposable camera lens for Nikon 1 J1
I made a lens for my Nikon J1 from a lenscap, a cable gland and a lens from a disposable camera.
The result is a very compact lens. I used an m20 cable gland for outdoor electrical wiring. The threads in the cable gland allows me to focus.
The J1 can be used with a manual lens in M mode but it will not do metering for you so getting the correct shutter speed is a bit of trial and error.
Due to the cropping factor the focal length of this lens is about 100mm or more (not sure because the camera it came off did not provide a focal length, but I guess it would be somewhere between 35mm and 50mm).
Lens speed is terrible so only usable at high ISO in full sunlight.
I made a comparable lens earlier for my Lumix G3 and that camera is better suited for this kind of experiments as it will provide you with metering with a lens like this.
Anyway, the previous photos gives an impression what kind of effects this lens provides.
