The Hmong (Vietnamese Mẹo) are an indigenous people of East and South East Asia. They live mainly in the forested mountain areas of southern China, in Laos, Vietnam and Thailand.

The history of the Hmong is known from oral traditions, especially from myths and legends. Their ethnic roots go back four thousand years and are probably located in central China.

Worldwide, there are 70-80 different groups, which differ mainly in clothing, which differ in colour.
