this photo by Armando Taborda

search for perfection
is just a utopia
cause we want it too much
the more it moves away
we have to limit ourselves to the imperfections of life
death
and to the absence of god
lonely
and dissatisfied
we will leave the anguish
as an inheritance
to future generations
for the continuation
of eternity's nothing

///

a procura da perfeição
é pura utopia
porque a queremos demais
mais ela se afasta
temos que nos cingir à imperfeiçõ da vida
morte
e à ausência de deus
sós
e insatisfeitos
deixaremos a angústia
como herança
às futuras gerações
para a continuidade
do eterno nada

Beautiful words that really resonate with me Armando. They are sad but there is a lot of truth in them. As we age we realise that Utopia belongs with the idealism of youth, yet happiness, although it may be fleeting is real and attainable. We need to work at it and it may not be perfect but it is ours to make of it what we can. I think all we can do is be the best person we can and to instill those values in our children so that they can make the most of the lives they have and achieve a measure of happiness and contentment in their lifetime. Kindness will not make you rich but can enrich your life and that of others even in this far from perfect world that we live in and which our families will inherit. It saddens me though that I cannot give them the perfect life we all think is on the horizon when we are young. No matter how old they are you just want to protect them don't you?

Many thanks for the poem and for listening. Best wishes

Your full comment is the assessment of an experimented person who thinks of life and its values, even if life itself is a whole-time utopia.

I listen to you with pleasure and admiration.
