Well seen and taken Anna, I think it is because the colour that is reflected in the water is missing where the ring is so the ring appears to be on top because the water appears clear. I hope the translator understands what I am trying to say :)))

Je veux bien comprendre cette illusion d'optique...(un effet de solarisation?)
ce qui me gêne c'est le passage de l'anneau au raz de la casserole à gauche
Ce qu l'on constate bien c'est le ménisque formé par la pellicule de l'eau, et bien visible grâce au reflets de la PiP
j'aurais été curieuse de voir l'image originale en couleur...

Der Topf ist im Spiegelbild von der Herdplatte, also ist auch hier der weisse Ring 'oben'.
Damit der Effekt nicht so stark ist habe im PiP die Ring-Einlassung von der Herdplatte unscharf maskiert
