Immenblatt
Eine Pflanze, die bereits in der Antike für medizinische Zwecke genutzt wurde, ist das Immenblatt (Melittis melissophyllum). Die Bedeutung der Pflanze ist offensichtlich verloren gegangen, denn heute ist sie kaum zu finden. Doch das Immenblatt, auch als Wildmelisse bekannt, sieht sehr schön aus und sollte wieder mehr Aufmerksamkeit erfahren.
Die botanische Bezeichnung, Melittus mellisophyllum, geht auf griechische und lateinische Ursprünge zurück. Schon der römische Dichter Vergil (70- 19 v. Chr.) und der römische Gelehrte Plinius der Ältere (24- 79 n. Chr.) kannten das Wort für Immenblatt. So bedeutet melitta- Biene, mel- Honig und phyllon- Blatt. Linne‘ verwendete in seiner Schrift „Species Plantarum“ (1753) bereits den Art- und Gattungsnamen für die Pflanze. Auch erkannte er schon das Zusammenspiel zwischen der Pflanze und den Hautflüglern.
Angewendet wird das Immenblatt vorwiegend in der Volksheilkunde als Wundheilmittel. Genutzt wird die ganze Pflanze. An Inhaltsstoffen sind vor allem Cumarinverbindungen zu nennen.

Es sind nektarführende, nach Honig duftende Lippenblumen. Die Bestäubung des Immenblatts erfolgt durch Hummeln und Schmetterlinge.
