Iceland, The Starting Point to Climb Tallest Cone in the Lakagigar Volcanic Chain
Lakagigar is a shield volcano in the south of Iceland. It is a chain of more than 110-115 craters up to 818 m high (the relative height of the lava cones above the basalt cover is 80-90 m), stretching for 25 km. Lakagigar is located between the Mýrdalsjökull and Vatnajökull glaciers, in an area of faults that extend from southwest to northeast.
