00 Mallorca North West Coast

Low aerial views are always fascinating as there is plenty of detail to look at. Unfortunately, most international main flights are well over 30,000 ft (some have been around 38,000ft) at cruising height, so you are just likely to see cloudscapes. The strange thing is that there can be three distinct cloud levels, and the flight often just sits above the top layer making it seem not very high. At these sorts of heights, clear spells do gave a wonderful panorama, but everything reduces to an almost flat-looking relief, and detail can often be lost in the "blue" colouration. This particular photograph was at around 18,000 ft as we were dropping on approach to the airport.
