A Man and His Dog, 1914

A Man and His Dog, 1914
A photo of a dog or cat on a chair for the Vintage Photos Theme Park.

A real photo postcard of a man and his dog. I haven't been able to decipher the inscription on the front (except for the year), and there's no name, address, or postmark on the verso.

Printed on the other side: "R. Guilleminot, Bœspflug et Cie. Paris."

It's a wonderful photograph! Such clarity - and the man's expression is unusual and sort of weirdly enchanting.

An interesting and engaging photo, Alan, the photographer choosing to capture the man's attention to the dog as opposed to using the dog solely as a prop.

Thanks, Rick! It is an interesting composition. I'm not sure how they got the dog to pose--it seems like it's looking intently at something. And the folded newspaper in the man's lap makes it appear like it was a quick, impromptu photo.

What a good dog! So attentive--his ears and stance make him look so eager to please.
