All I know is that it was achieved by David Annand, who called it "Light of the City".

This sculpture celebrates the centenary of the federation of the six towns that make up Stoke-on-Trent. The female figure holds a vessel that represents the Staffordshire Hoard, the most valuable collection of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found, and the male figure holds a plate which reflects the city’s ceramic heritage. The names of the six towns that came together to form the city of Stoke-on-Trent are on the plinth that the two figures are standing on. (Taken form the Visit Stoke website)

Well found and captured Dimas. I too was intrigued and looked it up. See my reply to Christa. Belated HFF and have a good week ahead

Thank you for your precious information, Carol. I knew that Stoke-on-Trent was the result of the development and expansion of six cities until they became a single one. The basis of the sculpture is an hexagonal prism: each of its 6 lateral faces displays the name of one of the 6 former cities.

Tou didn't seem to have much luck with the weather when you visited the area. Many years ago I used to live in Newcastle under Lyme for a short time.
