Published by L. J. De Nobele (#23), this is a rare view looking south down Kennedy from a location near the old Law Courts building.I suspect that the long shadows, stretching across the foreground from the right, may well be the tower & turrets of the Law Courts.

The unknown (to me) building positioned at front right is set on the NW corner of Broadway & Kennedy. Just behind it, on the SW corner, is Manitoba's old Parliament Building. Further back, at the other end of the block, is Government House.

Right. I don't know what it is either. Maybe a really old Law Courts? It looks as though it was built to match the legislature.

I was thinking that as well. I guess it is possible. Or maybe a former Land Titles building? The newer one was built in 1904.

I did a little research. The building in the foreground of this image is, indeed, the original Land Titles Office. It was opened in 1872 - a year before Government House was opened and two years before this early Parliament Building. After construction of the new Land Titles building in 1904, this building was variously used as office space for the government entities including the Department of Education, the Liquor Licence Department and Police. It was apparently demolished about 1912 to be replaced by a new Law Courts Building that now stands on that corner.
