Eine tolle Landschaft und dass es Orchideen in Island gibt, ist die Überraschung des Tages...

Schönen Dank, Udo! Im Netz habe ich eine schlaue Pflanzenseite gefunden- es gibt anscheinend 7 verschiedene Orchideenarten auf Island, zwei davon habe ich mindestens schon gesehen.

Remarquable et excellente série joliment partagée. La capture principale est vraiment fascinante.

Thank you so much, George! In sheltered corners Iceland can be surprisingly lush and the ash from volcanoes acts as fertilizer.

Such a wonderful landscape...............captured in glorious light and colour. The detail in the foreground is amazing and I love those huge rock formations.

The first PiP is beautifully composed with a nice leading line from the steps. The light and details are gorgeous. The second PiP is also nicely detailed with some lovely wildflowers including that beautiful little wild orchid.

Thanks very much, Keith! Obviously before settlement Iceland had many birch woods like this, but the Vikings cut them all down in record time.... These days there's quite a bit of reforestation going on in the south of the island (species from Siberia or Alaska) though it never does look as good as this native wood.

Thanks a lot, Carol! The lush vegetation comes as a real surprise, hiding between the glaciers. A cold summer gave us lots of flowers, they'd usually be gone by end of July.
