Dettifoss

Dettifoss, 45m high and 100m wide, is one of Europe's mightiest waterfalls. River Jökulsá a Fjöllum comes from the northern side of Vatnajökull and has carved a deep gorge (Jökulsárgljúfur) with several waterfalls.

I like the way you've captured the movement and power of the water, which is most Impressive. The detail in the surrounding landscape is superb and it's good to see some people in the foreground for scale.

Thanks a lot, Keith! I find this fall difficult to photograph, from nearby you lose the sense of scale. That's why I didn't even bother to go further down- and because the weather was abysmally bad;-)
You can see the falls from the other side but they warn you to be extremely careful. Anyway, the road on the eastern side is very bad so not many people go there.

Herzlichen Dank, Alex! ich war 3x dort, aber immer auf dieser Seite. Dieses Jahr war das Wetter so gruselig, dass die andere Seite noch extremer rutschig gewesen wäre. Ich bin nicht mal hier ganz runter, weil ich keine Lust mehr auf die sehr tiefen Pfützen hatte. Beim 1. Besuch war ich unten, beim 2. habe ich mir lieber den Selfoss angeschaut....

Other peeps have said "Wow!". It's definitely a Wow! from me too, Gudrun. An awe-inspiring perfectly chosen viewpoint and the inclusion of the brightly coloured figures is the perfect addition and they give such scale to the scene. Even more breathtaking when viewed large.
