Looking back;
Oh, way back -
So long ago now -
I would say
Without a moment's hesit
Ation
That I have been fascinated
With bus stops for
Oh, a long long time.
With buses,
Less so.

Reading is the largest settlement in, and the county town of, the Royal County of Berkshire.
The confluence of the Kennet and the Thames is in Reading.
Reading is the principal regional and commercial centre of the Thames Valley.
The population of Reading is 174,200, although the number in the greater urban area which not only comprises the borough but also analogous districts outside the borough boundary is 233,000.

The doors are slammed shut. The guard's whistle sounds; the engine driver replies. We lurch away. With each belch from the engine the carriages jerk forward, It takes some distance before a steady rhythm of movement is established. The drizzle falls against the windows. There is a coolness in the air and a slight scent of wet socks. The dust rises and swirls due to being disturbed from the upholstery. This is comfort.
Lens: Nikkor 20mm f/3.5 AI-S.

Blue Jacket With A Yellow Button

I have discovered that the Fuji X-E1 struggles with accurate recording of blue colours. I don't recall this was always a fault. Maybe my X-E1 is too old.
In addition, I am reminded of why the Nikkor-H 50mm f/2 lens (used to take this picture) enjoys such a good reputation even long after it has gone out of production.

The picture was taken with a Nikon D40 (introduced 2006, CCD sensor). The lens was an elderly Nikkor-H 50mm f/2 from circa 1971. An all-manual experience, like going back in time (except not film).

I was photographing Pulteney Bridge when this person unexpectedly emerged from the coffee shop, This is a tiny selection from the original photograph rendered in subdued monochrome tones.
Photographed in 2010 using a Nikon D50 and 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 G lens.

This is the third occasion I have posted a fresh edit of this photograph originally captured on colour negative film in 1997. This version benefits from a fairly robust black and white conversion. Thus far it is the closest I have got it to a state I regard as visually invigorating.
