Wilton Windmill
An old flour mill near Marlborough, Wiltshire, which fell into dereliction and was rescued by the Wiltshire County Council who bought it and worked with the Wiltshire Historic Buildings Trust in the 1970s. If you want to visit the windmill - and on Sunday afternoons during summer you can go inside and look round - keep in mind that it is at Wilton near Marlborough, not Wilton near Salisbury.

Wilton Windmill 30.10.18 - 01
The mill has four sails in total; two patent (these are the slatted sails which can be quickly activated) and two common canvas sails, which have to be set before the mill starts to turn. The function of the fantail is to move the cap on its bearings so that the sails can pick up the wind, if there is any.
