Watering the Sunflower Plants

An appealing mix of abstract and figurative (or manmade and other). A good set of colours, too.

Thank you for your appreciation of this composition. What drew me to it was the repeating pattern, the geometry, the clash of materials (stone and plastic), the holes/container thing, and the water sustaining life. It's a quite ordinary scene but looking at it as a photograph, rather than as it actually exists, is a bit hypnotic. Your words caused me to delve into why I liked the scene. That was a useful mental excursion.

I read your description with interest. I read your response to John FitzGerald with fascination. I too am drawn to this photo by the geometry. I love the top down point of view. I love the way the extended arm of the watering can echos the line of the plant pots. I love the shiny wetness of the water on the dry flagstones. I love the droplets of water around the plant pots (I can almost smell the wet earth from here), l love the differing development of the plants. As you suggest, a simple commonplace photo, yet superbly photographed. Thank you for your sharing. My best wishes:Bill.
