Ha! I survived grade school as a surly, stammering little brunette in braces, thick glasses, and hand-me-downs. You'll never convince me that an "innocent blonde" is any more real than a unicorn. :P

When I was around 12 I collected (among other things), the Breck Shampoo "girls" (young women) - drawn by artists and featured on the back of magazines like Redbook and Good Housekeeping.
Have you seen those?
I've got a bunch somewhere in the house.
The last blonde here is somewhat reminiscent of them.
