Bishopstone - St Andrews
Bishopstone was an episcopal manor, hence its name meaning "dwelling place of the bishop". The church is thought to date from the 8th century, and may well be one of the oldest in the county. The church was rebuilt in 1200.
Above the portal is a sundial inscribed with the name Eadric. It is thought that this is due to Eadric of Kent, King of Kent in 685.
