Mora de Rubielos - Santa María
Mora de Rubielos is a small town (approx. 1600 inh.) about 60 km southeast of Teruel. Since 1978 the entire place has been a “Conjunto histórico-artístico”.
The former collegiate church of Santa María is a Gothic building from the 15th century erected under the patronage of the Fernández de Heredia family.
During the Civil War, the church housed military workshops and warehouses and then served as a surveillance post, being left in a ruinous state after the end of the conflict. However, due to its artistic value, it was declared a national monument later.
