Püha - Jakobi kirik

Püha - Jakobi kirik
The church in Püha was founded sometime during the second half of the 13th century. The choir was probably built at the end of the 13th century, the single-nave nave and the vaults in the 14th century. The character of a fortified church is still clearly visible today.

During the Livonian War, Russian troops massacred the Estonian civilian population in Püha in 1576. They burned all the inhabitants in the church who had sought shelter there. After the severe destruction, the church was rebuilt.

Andy Rodker, Paolo Tanino have particularly liked this photo
