Chevannes - Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul
Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul, the 16th-century parish church of Chevannes (pop 2000), is under renovation. These works are necessary and often extremely costly.
After the vandals of the French Revolution had severely damaged many churches and destroyed the statues of Popes, Bishops and Saints, there was a huge demand for such holy items in the 19th century. Statues got mass-produced - and most of them were of very poor quality. This is one of them.
