Beaune - Collégiale Notre-Dame de Beaune
The collegiate was founded in Beaune within the 10th century, the building of this church, which is parish church since the French Revoltion started in romanesque style within the 12th century.
There are many carvings in this church. This carving of this capital reminds me on the style of Gislebertus in Autun, but I cannot "read" it. A very nicely carved scenery (forest?) in the background. In the foreground a holy person (nimbus) puts something/somebody into a basket, supported by a sheep.
Any suggestions?
