The fortified church dedicated to Saint-Nicolas in the small village of Englancourt, is located on a hill and surrounded by the graveyard. Today the population of Englancourt is about 100, but when the church got erected and fortified, probably more villagers lived here.
Such fortified churches mostly had a well, a bread oven and fireplaces. Here were even different floors, to give more room for the refugees.
