ice carving in July
Last week we went to the 'Christmas in July' event in North Pole, Alaska (right next to Santa Clause's House). Normally here, ice carving is done in February or early March, when the temperature is a comfortable minus forty degrees or so...

Slightly more seriously I'd say somewhere below -50 it starts getting a wee bit uncomfortable. Back when my kids were growing up they had just about an even mile walk from the house to the school bus stop. We'd told them, if I remember right, that when the temperature was -55 or lower, they could choose not to walk to the school bus. They'd usually choose to go in spite of the temperatures.
