Lighthouses, Lightships

The guiding lights seen around coastal areas. New, old. large or small, they were of primary importance for safe navigation of coastal / inshore waters before the age of digital equipment. In use, or retired, all are still landmarks of importance.
Manning some of the more offshore examples must have been a lonely experience, needing something very special in the lighthouse keepers.
Mostly these will be UK examples, operating lights in England are the responsibility of Trinity House.
