Arun class All-weather lifeboat 52-02 [ON1012] "'Sir William Arnold'" was built 1973/4.
Designed by J.A. McLachlan, as the second prototype with changes to the hull and upper superstructure.
Served with distinction at St Peter Port, Guernsey; earning 15 RNLI medals during over 500 launches and saving 224 lives.
The most famous rescue was in 1981 from the MV Bonita under hurricane conditions on 13th December www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-guernsey-16141409 - saving 29 lives, earning the cox'n a gold medal and the seven crew were awarded Bronze medals.
Note: this was six days before the loss of the Penlee Lifeboat "Solomon Browne" in similar conditions on a service to the Union Star. Both crews were all killed.

ON1025 was sold out of service in 1998, and after various adventures she was fully restored in 2019, becoming an education museum, based in Essex.
