CoLC - NHS waiting lists still growing [Jan 2024]

Following the pressures on the NHS of the covid pandemic, a rapid rise in longer waiting times has developed, more urgent cases are being dealt with reasonably promptly. However, less urgent matters continue to have increased waiting times, indeed some waits now exceed a year - a time span last seen around 2009.
[SPECULATION - Some of this is due to staffing problems, which appear to have been exacerbated by brexit / immigration controls. The other facet may be a largely concealed political desire to re-invent a dominant private practice as per the american insurance based system, where the rich can afford it but other's can't].
