ssm - The Ark [Presland]
The Ark was built by Orton & Spooner of Burton-on-Trent in 1932 for H&J Evans. Sold to The Presland family in 1937 who toured with in London and Essex. Sold in 1991 and again in 1997 to James Key. After restoration at Strumpshaw it was recommissioned in 2015.
It is 55ft in diameter [22 platforms], with a mixture of [6] chariots and [34] speedway motorbikes. Powered by a 6LD Gardener generator. Only three of these "Arks" remain operational ...
and we had a ride, it felt remarkably fast, especially as I was on the outermost row and the hills made it feel like dirk-track racing. Great Fun !!
