TiG [rail] - Flying Bench
Finally, all complete - apart from some seat squabs.
The Flying Bench [No.7] in 1991, taken from up on top of a ladder.
I had a small hand in the preparation for, and actually doing, the painting and varnishing of the "Flying Bench" - I have also spent quite some time aboard as the "Person in Charge" [ref the "special operating rules"]. The Welsh mountainsides in the cuttings feel even closer than they do in the normal carriages - in a few places the clearances are, literally, measured in single digit inches.
