IoM[1] - Diesel railcar {No.s 19 or 20}

IoM[1] - Diesel railcar {No.s 19 or 20}
One of the two partially restored Co. Donegal diesel railcars [19 & 20] Withdrawn in 1998, work was started but stalled in 1999 (?) and they remain unfinished.
There has been campaigning from the Steam Railway Supporters Association (and others) for the work to be completed. Due to the gearboxes, they need to run "back to back" and quite how they would fit into the timetable and operating season is another matter for debate.

Hi Sara
Interesting comment about 'back to back' the gearboxes.. Is it because nobody thought to include a reverse gear!!!!!!!
Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

Fingers crossed as the railcars would be very different from the usual steam hauled carriages,

Several things are involved - seating capacity is another one, as well as the layout (cab only at one end.
The version I heard most recently abut the gears was that they "worked better" running forwards than in reverse.
We will have to wait and see what happens.
