The lava hasn't always gone in the expected directions.

After a spell flowing over additional barriers and down into Natthagi by the 11th June the main flows were again into Meradalir. [e2a - including covering one of the FLO routes)

And by the end of June - flows are back into Natthagi.

Three control barriers of been built, two are intended to direct flows from the third overspill route into Natthagi. The most recent one has been placed across the western outlet from Natthagi (and looks as though it is a substantial berm).
