(if you search "Alston Arches" you should find some more images)
The railway was opened in the 1850's and axed by Beeching (eventually closed in 1976) and now the narrow gauge "South Tynedale Railway" uses the trackbed. Currently, the first three miles Alston to Lintley have been re-opened, with further expansion planned.
E2A - as of June 2018, STR re-opened as far as Slaggyford [5 miles from Alston].
