This sentence will not win anh literary prizes with its awkward mix of metaphors, bit let's look at it closely. the phases 'warmth of his handshake, heavy weight of his memories, in cold blood,' and 'clean conscience' show that our everyday speech is rooted in the connection between our physical experience and our psychological state. It's difficult even to think of an emotion that doesn't carry with it a physical metaphor; isolation is cold, guilt is heavy, cruelty is hard. ~ Page 11
