A long,silent hallway in the abandoned Kewanee Boiler office building in Kewanee, IL.The company, synonymous for it's boilers that powered manufacturering, government, and school buildings, abandoned the office many years ago. The whole factory complex, including this building, is currently under demolition....

This old Dodge Brothers coupe is a favorite subject of mine. It sits,seemingly forgotten, in an old decaying barn far off the beaten path. The owner is now too old to restore it,but apparently can't part with this rare 1934 survivor....

An old steam engine endures another long northern Illinois winter. It is the last of a fleet of steam engines that were once used at a local Steel manufacturer, now long out of business....

The sorry remains of the original Kewanee Boiler Plant in Kewanee, IL. The plant first began in 1868,and by the early 1900's Kewanee boilers were in manufacturing plants, government buildings, schools and churches, and ships all over the world. The plant at one time employed 4000 workers and still had nearly a 1000 in the early '70s. But more efficient ways of powering and heating became available and the plant was finally shuttered in 2002. Today only the badly dilipidated office building and this single metal smoke stack remain on the site....
