Astley Bridge Mill
Astley Bridge was the last mill to be built in Bolton, being completed in 1927 to the design of Bradshaw, Gass and Hope for Sir John Holden & Sons Ltd. It was designed as an electric powered mill and thus has no enginehouse.
When opened this spinning mill operated 125,000 mule spindles and 31,000 ring spindles for super carded and super combed Egyptian yarns. It closed as a cotton mill in 1965 and in 1985 was being used by Littlewoods as a mail order distribution centre. It has now been converted to apartments.
