Watkin, Burslem
Joseph Meir Watkin is listed as a brickmaker in Burslem between 1867 and 1893. He was operating at the Silvester Brick & Tile Works which was located between Silvester Square and Silvester Street, backing on to the Potteries Loop Line. In 1875 only, the works is shown as being run by messrs Watkin & Guy. The buildings had been cleared by 1899 when only the disused clay pit remained.
This example can be seen in the comprehensive displays about the North Staffordshire brick industry at the Apedale Heritage Centre.
